Aquinas College is a K-12 Catholic School in the Edmund Rice Tradition servicing in excess of 1,300 local, country and international boys.
Aquinas College has a rich history within Western Australia education and a reputation of producing outstanding young men.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled College Psychologist who forms part of an inclusive, supportive and high performing team, within a values-based environment, reporting to the Vice Principal.

Position Objective:
To promote academic success, positive psychological health, social and emotional wellbeing with students through the delivery of professional practice in accordance with the Psychologist's Code of Professional Conduct.

Successful Candidate Credentials
To be successful in this role you will have the following credentials:
4 year or equivalent degree in Psychology; Current registration, either provisionally, or as a fully registered Psychologist AHPRA/Psychology Board of Australia; Have or be prepared to obtain Accreditation to Work in a Catholic school; Valid Working with Children Check clearance; Satisfactory National Police clearance; Have or be prepared to undertake Mandatory Reporting training; Maintain professional competence and the currency of specialist expertise through a commitment to ongoing professional development; Hold appropriate Australian Work Rights.
Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:
Active support for the Edmund Rice Charism, Edmund Rice schooling, Catholic ethos and the College Mission; A strong understanding of mental health and associated disorders, and their relationship to child and adolescent development; The ability to provide a high standard of psychological counselling, therapy and programs for individuals and groups for a range of mental health, emotional, social and family issues; The ability to undertake educational and psychological assessment and diagnosis, and plan and deliver evidence-based interventions in collaboration with applicable staff, relevant external professionals and parents/guardians; Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills enabling harmonious and effective relationships with students, parents, staff and relevant external professional and community agencies; A positive, proactive approach that promotes academic success, positive psychological health, social and emotional wellbeing with students; Strong familiarity with the APS Code of Ethics and Guidelines.
Desirable Criteria
Experience as a Psychologist in day or boarding school setting; Prior experience working with those from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Indigenous young people within boarding/residential contexts; Experience recommending relevant, evidenced-based classroom strategies to teachers and support staff for assistance with individual student behavioural management, self-regulation issues and social competency skills; Experience making recommendations in relation to students' individual learning plans and advocating for students with special needs or other issues; Experience in contributing to professional learning and policy development; Experience with, and response to, critical incidents and emergencies.
