Policy officers will assist in research and analysis of current and emerging IP matters.
They will help solve new and complex problems in a team environment.
The successful applicant should have strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively under time pressures.
An understanding of current and emerging IP policy issues could be an advantage, but a successful applicant might instead be highly adaptable, and develop their existing analytical ability in an IP policy environment.

Teams have staff based in locations across Australia.

The key duties of the position include:
Researches and provides analysis and policy advice on major and emerging IP issues Assists with development, implementation and review of IP policy initiatives, including legislation, FTAs and other international agreements Works independently and collaboratively with internal stakeholders, and across government, in a pressured team environment Participates in consultations with external stakeholders Prepares briefings, correspondence and advice for use by ministers, executives and in international meetings EligibilityUnder section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).

All applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance.
The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

The successful candidate/s may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level – please check the candidate kit for security clearance requirements.

The successful applicant/s must be willing to share all relevant and required information.

NotesWe are looking to fill this position on an ongoing basis.
Future positions may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis subject to operational requirements.
Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months initially with the possibility of extension.

At the end of the recruitment process, a merit pool of suitable candidates may be created.
Those found suitable will be advised that they have been placed in the pool.
The merit pool is valid for 18 months from the date the process was advertised.
The merit pool may be used throughout the period to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant.

We have a shared hub in Sydney (Gadigal Country).
Employees who are not located near an office, work completely remotely.
