If you think you can do the job and would be a good fit for our department, we'd love to hear from you.The department is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and recognises that children's rights need to be respected, their views welcomed and valued, and their concerns taken seriously and acted upon.Role Overview:• Officer, State Public Information (4 roles available)• 3 x Ongoing & 1 x 6 month fixed term, full time (shift work - 24/7 roster including nights and weekends)• VPS3 salary between $76,817 to $93,275 plus superannuationWhat will the role do?Work in the State Control Centre Public Information team as part of Victoria's operational emergency response.Create and publish emergency information and warnings, manage the VicEmergency social media channels, and support media requirements.Support projects that enhance public information.Community-focused communications to help keep Victorians safe before, during and after emergencies.Please Note - This role involves working on site at the State Control Centre, on rotations of four days on, four days off.
Successful candidates will be required to work changing shift times, including outside normal business hours, nights and weekends, to support the 24/7 nature of emergency response.What skills and knowledge should the Officer, State Public Information have?About you:We are looking for someone who is motivated and passionate about keeping communities safe during emergencies.
You'll need to thrive in a dynamic environment, be driven to achieve outcomes, and be flexible and adaptable.Our ideal candidate will also have:Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of different agencies and stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in digital and media communications across multiple platforms.Knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements (desirable).A positive, can-do attitude.Proven ability to productively work independently or as part of a team.Well-developed decision-making and problem-solving skills.Qualifications:Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in an appropriate discipline (such as marketing, communications, or a related discipline) are desirable.Emergency Management:Emergency Management, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio.
