The Regulatory Policy Branch in the Justice Policy and Reform (JPR) Division of DJAG develops, coordinates and implements liquor, gaming, marketplace (consumer protection), occupational licensing and body corporate (strata) regulatory proposals for primary and subordinate legislation.
We are seeking a Senior Policy and Legislation Officer to contribute to complex policy and legislation work by conducting research, analysing and developing options and preparing high quality policy documents.
We are looking for a team member who can work autonomously and within a high-performing team.
If you want to join a team of highly skilled and committed individuals, who are dedicated to both minimising consumer harm, and ensuring Queensland's liquor, gaming and general trading sectors are profitable, safe and fair, this position may be your opportunity.
As a Senior Policy and Legislation Officer you will undertake research and policy analysis on a range of current and emerging issues relevant to responsible liquor and gaming practices and to help markets work fairly.
You will be encouraged to think creatively and to develop legislative and other regulatory and non-regulatory options to solve problems to ensure Queensland's liquor, gaming and general trading sectors are profitable, safe and fair.
We are looking for a team member who can work under pressure both autonomously and within a high-performing team to prepare quality written documentation such as cabinet submissions, discussion papers and drafting instructions.
You will also need the ability to develop and foster effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, qualifications in law, public policy, or other degrees relevant to the role will be favourably regarded.
Practical experience in policy and/or legislation development is desirable.
The temporary position is available for 12 months, with possible extension.
