About Us:Wildlife Habitat, nestled at the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest in tropical Port Douglas, is an award-winning wildlife park.
As proud members of ZAA and ASZK, we provide exceptional care for a diverse range of Australian fauna, including the Southern Cassowary, Saltwater Crocodiles, and more.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced wildlife keeper to join our team.
Position Highlights:An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced wildlife keeper to join us in a part-time capacity.
As a Wildlife Keeper at Wildlife Habitat, you'll be an integral part of our small, close-knit team, contributing to the care, conservation, and presentation of our iconic Australian animals.
Primary Responsibilities: Collaborate within a small team, showcasing excellent communication skills.Maintain a high standard of daily enclosure cleaning, maintenance, and animal health checks.Apply a sound knowledge of diet, nutrition, and enrichment for all species in our diverse collection.Demonstrate strong presentation skills with reptiles, birds, and mammals.Showcase exceptional animal observation and interpretation skills.Your application is recommended to Include: Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care or equivalent tertiary qualification.Minimum of 1 year paid experience as a wildlife keeper in the Animal Industry.Demonstrated experience working with Australian wildlife, with a preference for previous koala handling experience.Knowledge of animal conditioning and positive reinforcement is advantageous.Reptile experience is an advantage but not necessary.Local flora knowledge is highly beneficial.Computer skills for record-keeping on Species 360.Manual driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 2 months of employment and own reliable vehicle.Availability to work over a 7-day roster, including weekends, public holidays, and school holidays.Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screening.Why Wildlife Habitat?
