Job Overview:
The Senior Manager Engineering is tasked with developing departmental plans, including business, production, and organizational priorities.
The role requires multi-disciplinary expertise and the ability to understand the industry to achieve financial and operational objectives.
The Senior Manager Engineering manages multiple related teams, sets their organizational priorities, and allocates the appropriate resources.
They must identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems.
The Senior Manager Engineering directly impacts business results by supporting and function-specific projects, products, services, and technologies and developing policies and plans.
Essential Qualifications & Education: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering20+ years of experience and proven leadership experienceRequires multi-disciplinary expertise within own discipline and knowledge of othersApplies understanding of the industry to achieve financial and operational objectivesPreferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society as applicableSeasoned knowledge of engineering standards and specificationsGood overview of engineering softwareGood working knowledge of English, both oral and writtenHSE, TQM and cost-consciousGood organizer, motivator, and supervisorKeen on improving the effectiveness of the workShow flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to:The reassignment to other departments/construction sites/fabrication yardsThe managing/learning of current working methods and software applicationsThe reassignment to other McDermott officesKey Tasks and Responsibilities: Manage multiple related teams, set organizational priorities, and allocate resourcesProvide leadership to managers and professional staffIs accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teamsDevelop departmental plans, including business, production, and/or organizational prioritiesDecisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectivesAssign staffing for the departmental positions on projects and proposalsIs responsible for administrative and technical management of the Engineering DepartmentIdentify performance gaps and correct them including systems, equipment, and people resourcesProvide leadership and instruction to their employeesEnsure work is being coordinated between the other disciplines, offices, fabrication, and construction to meet project requirementsManage the technical execution to support the business considerations established for the projectIs responsible for the administration and technical management of the departmentExecute annual appraisals of the employeesExecute performance appraisals of agency personnelCollect/identify training requests/needs, review for justification, and facilitate implementationProvide regular performance feedback to the employees in the departmentImplement communication planSupport recruitment activities for their departmentAssure good team spirit in the departmentIdentify high potentials and support the effort of providing them with suitable career opportunitiesPropose salary increases upon request of company managementSupport the execution plan preparation of every projectAssign resources to projects and proposalsStay up to date with the status of all projects through the Lead EngineerEnsure execution of PEA reviews and IDR's on projectsResolve findings and corrective actions as requiredLead improvement initiatives within the departmentSupport proposals as requiredPrepare or approve man-hours estimatesEnsure the MPS system is kept up to dateEstablish a budget and salary plan for the departmentIdentify and recruit staff for departmental positionsMaintain staffing levels appropriate to the projected workloadProvide leadership and training for the professional development of staffResponsible for the integrity of the work produced #J-18808-Ljbffr
