Join us at Metro South Health and be part of a world-class, dynamic and growing health service that embraces technology, excellence in health care, teaching, research and empowering our people to be the best in serving our community.About the RoleThe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Hospital Liaison Officers provide assistance and support to patients and their families in Metro South Facilities during their hospitalisation and subsequent follow-up treatment.Hospital Liaison Officers work collaboratively with Queensland Health multidisciplinary teams across Metro South facilities to ensure that appropriate, culturally sensitive services contribute to the improved health and well-being status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.Undertake 'cultural assessment/risk screening' to identify patient needs and optimise the patient's recovery/outcomes on discharge from the acute care setting.Advocate for patients when they articulate a lack of understanding of their healthcare and ensure clinicians communicate in a way the patient understands.Advocate for appropriate service delivery for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, their families/extended families and staff, and identify opportunities for improvement.This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
