School Administrator - Maternity Leave Contract Administrative Assistants (Administration & Office Support)
Appointment : Part-time, 22.5 hours per week (3 days), starting January 20th and ending December 10th.
Award : Based on award classification and Southern Montessori School Enterprise Agreement.
Reporting : Reports to the Principal.
Probation : 3-month probationary period.
The Montessori Philosophy:
Southern Montessori School is an independent, secular, community school.
We follow the Montessori philosophy and implement a Montessori curriculum alongside the Australian Curriculum.
Maria Montessori's view of education was child centered.
It was her intention to develop a method of education that allows children to develop their potential in a non-competitive, caring and carefully planned environment, free of rewards and punishments.
At Southern Montessori School, we provide rigorous academic learning environments and structured freedom which helps to foster self-discipline, independence and initiative enabling our students to flourish now and in their future.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to a safe, secure learning environment aligned with the school's philosophy.
Assist with general office operations including greeting visitors, handling calls, managing emails, maintaining records, and processing mail.
Handle administrative tasks like bookings, staff certifications, fee management, and First Aid assistance.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to relevant health and safety standards.
Attend professional development and in-house training as needed.
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Organizational and time-management skills.
Familiarity with Montessori education and a willingness to align with its philosophy.
Relevant certifications such as First Aid and Working With Children Check.
Experience in school administration is beneficial.
Work Health & Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
