THE ROLEWe are looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer to join our tech-savvy team, providing essential technical support in pre-sales engagements.
This role is perfect for someone with a technical or coding background who is keen to deepen their expertise within the payments industry and progress along a technical career path.
As a Pre-Sales Engineer, you will support the pre-sales solution design process, create demonstrations, and assist with creating Proof of Concept (POC) implementations, gaining hands-on experience with integrations, customisation, and client-facing engagements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESSolution Discovery: Work closely with senior pre-sales engineers and sales teams to understand customer requirements and assess compatibility with DataMesh solutions.Technical Solution Design Support: Assist in creating tailored technical architectures and integration strategies that align with customer goals and the DataMesh product roadmap.Proof of Concept (POC) Implementation: Collaborate with the technical team on setting up POC environments and customising workflows, including configuring terminals and API endpoints.Product Demonstrations: Create and deliver technical demonstrations, showcasing DataMesh's features, integrations, and user-friendly interface to potential clients.Technical Documentation: Document POC and integration requirements, maintaining detailed records for internal and client-facing use.Collaboration with Development: Work with the engineering team to understand product updates, new features, and customisation options to support client-specific needs.Client Interaction & Support: Participate in client calls and meetings, answering technical questions and providing solutions that meet clients' unique requirements.Responding to RFI/RFQ/RFP Requests: Support the senior team in responding to RFI, RFQ, and RFP requests by preparing technical documentation, gathering relevant solution information, and ensuring timely, comprehensive responses.Learning & Development: Engage in training sessions to enhance your understanding of payment processing, tokenisation, PCI compliance, and industry standards.
REQUIREMENTSSkills and QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.Technical Background: Familiarity with programming or scripting, with an eagerness to expand your technical knowledge in payment processing and integrations.API Knowledge: Basic understanding of REST APIs and how they integrate with software solutions.Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to solving technical challenges.Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms to non-technical stakeholders.Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented approach to documentation, configuration, and client interactions.Team Collaboration: Comfortable working within a collaborative environment, supporting senior team members, and engaging with cross-functional teams.
Preferred ExperienceCoding Experience: Prior experience in a technical role (e.g., software development) or internship that involved coding or technical troubleshooting.Payments Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of payments industry standards like AS2805, ISO8583, along with switching and acquiring technologies.Point of Sale (POS) Systems Knowledge: Understanding of how POS systems operate and integrate within the payments ecosystem, including familiarity with transaction flows, communication protocols, and the integration of POS systems with payment terminals and back-end processing.Client-Facing Skills: Experience in client support or customer service, especially within a technical or software-related field, is beneficial.
