Derbyshire Community Health Services NHSFTWe are looking for a receptionist to join our well established team.
You will need to have the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst providing outstanding customer service to our patient population, work as part of a team and, in accordance to practice protocols, ensuring we continue to deliver an efficient service.
Working Pattern: 25 hours per week, on a rota shift system covering the hours between 08:00am and 18:30pm, Monday-Friday.
The practice opens late 1 evening per week until 20:00pm and you will be expected to support this service on a rotational basis.
Main duties of the jobDuties will involve assisting patients both face-to-face and over the telephone; booking appointments, sending letters, processing prescriptions, scanning, data entry, processing post, liaising with local pharmacies, GP Practices and other Health Care Services.
The ideal candidate MUST have the following essential skills/attributes:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenProfessional "can do" attitudeGood IT skills and preferably experience of SystmOneBe Flexible to cover holidays and sicknessJob responsibilitiesEnsure an effective and efficient service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.Deal with all general enquiries.Arrange new and follow-up appointments.Using your own judgement and communication skills to ensure patients who need urgent care are prioritized in a logical and non-disruptive manner.Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.Generate repeat prescription requests.Carry out tasks instructed by clinicians.Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.Cover colleagues' holiday and sick cover as required.Process incoming and outgoing mail according to practice protocols.Record actions taken in patient record where appropriate or in accordance with practice protocols.Any other administration duties required by the practice.Opening and closing the practice.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards.Person SpecificationEducation, Qualifications and TrainingGood standard of general education to GCSE level.Good numeracy and literacy.Previous Customer Service Experience.Further educational qualification.Experience and Knowledge RequiredExperience of working in a public reception environment with the public and/or patients.Use of IT systems.Use of Microsoft Office.Experience of use of general practice-type switchboard.Experience of working in a GP surgery.Skills and AttributesExcellent telephone manner.Able to work as part of a team.Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense.Understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality as it applies in the NHS.Good time management and ability to prioritise.Able to work under pressure.Able to work in a changing environment.Flexibility of working hours and able to work at the desired times across two surgery sites (including evening surgeries if required).Values, Drivers and MotivatorsCommitment to personal development and to take part in available training.Commitment to the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues.Understanding and commitment to customer service and patient-centred care.Commitment to getting it right first time every time.Willingness to take part in reflection and learning from own activities.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
