Purpose of the role
To generate new business, develop solar, wind, BESS, and hybrid projects, and carry out supplementary tasks to ensure that the Business Development team reaches their set targets.
Duties and responsibilities
Originate, develop, and optimise solar, wind, BESS, and hybrid projects.
Manage a team of developers.
Oversee the development of a portfolio of in-house developed, introduced, and/or acquired projects from initiation to financial close.
Develop new business opportunities.
Establish strong working relationships and liaise closely with other business divisions including engineering, planning, grid, energy markets, delivery, legal, and finance to assist in project development.
Align development strategy with specific strategic objectives.
Increase industry presence and influence through engagement with key stakeholders.
Participate in state-specific industry groups.
Assist other developers by carrying out supporting activities when needed.
Understand and develop company strategies and business practices accordingly.
Work with the Development team and other departments to improve processes and efficiency.
In addition, the Employee will perform other duties appropriate to the position as the Company may from time to time require.
PERSONAL SKILLS
Knowledge
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Understanding of the renewables industry, energy, and environmental issues.
Technical understanding of solar, wind, and BESS development and construction.
Understanding of environmental planning constraints.
Understanding of commercial activities including financial models, funding arrangements, and legal aspects.
Varied experience in the private and public sector, showing adaptability and ability to learn quickly.
Work Skills
Driving License required.

Ability to develop and update professional knowledge and skills.
Ability to apply professional knowledge and skills in advancement of business objectives.
Services
Carries out the development of Solar sites and quickly implements changes and improvements in operational activities and services.
Effectively carries out tasks required by the Development team in addition to own role.

Adapts to changes in Lightsource's and Development team's strategy while developing own strategy to achieve personal goals in project development.

Assesses own development needs and develops self to improve job performance and fulfill future potential.
Contributes to the team ethos of Lightsource.
Information and Communication
The ability to evaluate and convey complex information effectively through persuasive communication, negotiation skills, and clear presentation skills in both verbal and written contexts.
Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
Proven track record of:
B2C and B2B engagement.
Management of utility-scale Solar, Wind, and/or BESS development projects from initiation to financial close.
Developing and managing work projects, deadlines, and task-related resources.
Adapting to new challenges and learning swiftly.
Completing tasks on schedule with excellent quality.
Negotiation and communication skills.
