The Company
This prominent mechanical contractor has seen continuous success over the past 15 years, moving from a small a/c contractor to a major player in the mechanical services market, involved in jobs upwards of $30 million (mechanical packages) within the commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. They have recently expanded their reach into NSW, QLD, and WA. This award-winning contractor retains a family feel, with a real focus on their staff inside and outside of work, and has implemented all the cutting-edge systems and software. They would arguably do what they do as well, if not better than anyone else in the market. They do the right thing and are known for it; be that with your career (reviews, pay rises, reward, and recognition) or with how they deal with their clients, builders, subbies, and suppliers.
The Role
As part of the Drafting and Engineering team, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager and Directors in managing a team of Drafters in producing detailed shop drawings. You will use your extensive experience in REVIT MEP and your strong ability to work with all internal and external stakeholders involved in the job. Drawings will be based on high-level engineering designs, engineered in-house (D+C), and will be optimised through ongoing coordination meetings with the builder and other building services contractors to address clash detection issues and to ensure synergy and project flow. This role is truly a seat at the top table, alongside the Construction Manager, Service Manager, Engineering Manager, Estimating Manager, and the Directors.
Requirements
It is imperative that all applicants have sound working knowledge of REVIT MEP, have been using it on projects in an Australian setting, and have managed a team at a minimum of Team Leader level for at least 3 years, preferably more. Perhaps you are looking for a step up from a Lead Drafter role locally, or you are seeking a better life balance or to align with one of the firms that are the talk of the industry in Melbourne and interstate right now. You will understand what is expected in terms of Australian standards and have superb communication skills, both written and verbal, being able to attend and retain important project information collated from ongoing meetings.
