Early December start | Initial contract until 30 June 2025 Competitive hourly rate | Flexible work environment MS Fabric | Kimball | SQL This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading Our client is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join their Data and Analytics unit which is responsible for leading the work of data collection, data management and data analysis within the organisation.
As the Data Engineer you will manage and prepare data for usability, move data from source systems into reportable data models, and look after the day-to-day management of data feeds, ingestions, pipelines, modelling of data.
What you'll do: Design and implement data management and/or architecture solutions for Microsoft Fabric Design, implement and deploy data loaders to load data into Microsoft Fabric Manage model degradation and identify opportunities for improved data analysis Focus on designing adaptable downstream reporting data sources and data models and making sure data is available for those who need it Filter, tag, join, parse, and normalise data sets for use in analytics models Manage model degradation / ensure models remain predictive Data Warehouse / Data Modelling (Kimball) Prepare data that is good quality so that it can be used in statistical tools Assist the statistical modelers in filtering, tagging, joining, parsing, and normalising data sets for use in reports Assist the report analyst in pulling data from both data sources and integrated modelled data Identify opportunities to tune/ improve data analysis Work with the data stewards to resolve data quality issues Design and build statistical analysis models, machine learning models and other analytical modelling using the strategic analytics and integration technologies on large data sets Assist Data and Analytics in the day-to-day configuration of Microsoft Fabric Assist Data and Analytics in complex Fabric / SQL solution engineering Support the business transition into the new data analytics operational patterns (i.e.
use of Microsoft Fabric) Working closely with ICT to define user access management, integration and capacity requirements What you'll bring to the role: Demonstrated technical data engineering skills and a methodical approach to engineering data from source to sink for the purpose of downstream reporting, with experience in integrating and modelling complex and diverse data sets for use by data analysts and business units.
Experience in the planning, designing and implementing large scale data loading, manipulation, processing, analysis and exploration solutions (preferable in a Fabric / Microsoft platform environment).
Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills to recommend innovative approaches to data management, ensuring accurate and timely outputs.
Demonstrated understanding of data modelling and master data management principles and processes Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain positive relationships and consult, negotiate, liaise and influence others to achieve mutually beneficial solutions and provide advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
