The Wellbeing Director at Doveton College supports children and young people with specific social and emotional needs to engage with education.
An integral component of this role is to facilitate support for teachers and support staff when working with children and students at risk of disengaging from education or experiencing crisis in their home life.
The Wellbeing Director also coordinates relevant referrals and supports for families and contributes to the development of high-quality programs that promote wellbeing and engagement throughout the College, from Early Learning through to year 9.
The Wellbeing Director is a member of the School Improvement Team, and as such makes a significant contribution to the development of strategic plans, implementation and continuous improvement.
The Wellbeing Director is responsible for the multidisciplinary Wellbeing team and associated service providers, including those through Student Support Services.
ResponsibilitiesFacilitate intensive support for children and young people with specific social, emotional and educational needs through College-based interventions, including counselling, and referral to SSSO's and Allied Health agencies.Assess, plan and intervene in wellbeing programs for children and young people with specific social, emotional and educational needs who are at risk of disengaging from school or ELC.Provide appropriate advice to teaching and support staff regarding the impact that a student's situation may have upon their learning and suggest strategies to promote the student's/child's wellbeing and prevent disengagement, particularly primary prevention and early intervention.As a member of the leadership team contribute, develop and implement key policy initiatives within the College.Manage delivery of the Wellbeing programs budgetary, administrative and operational targets.Assist with the development of appropriate professional learning activities for staff in the area of wellbeing and engagement.Provide high-quality advice and support to the school community including the Early Learning Centre, in the development and implementation of programs, procedures and policies on the wellbeing of students, particularly those at risk of disengagement from education.Develop and implement operational policy and strategies and resource allocations.Advise the Leadership Team of any critical incidents impacting on student's wellbeing in a timely manner.Attend regular meetings with the wider Leadership Team to exchange appropriate and relevant information in keeping with current legislation and regulations eg CISS/FVISS, MARAM.Facilitate regular Wellbeing related meetings eg, Case Conferencing, Wellbeing Meetings, Daily Briefing, Debriefing.Collaborate with College staff, Student Support Services and support agencies to develop and implement a range of programs and interventions with students and the school community that foster resilience, improve attendance and respond to identified social, emotional and educational needs.Foster working relationships with key stakeholders, including MOU development, oversight and review.Oversee the Wellbeing Team's case notes in line with Doveton College Policy/Procedures.Provide regular supervision to the Wellbeing Team.Oversee the work responsibilities of the Wellbeing Team.Undertake regular Supervision.Provide wider Leadership in the identification and analysis of emerging student wellbeing issues and coordinate specialist advice on the range of appropriate interventions.Oversee the PSD/DI Program and OOHC Program ensuring compliance with DE Policies.Attend relevant Student Support Groups/ Care Team Meetings, Case Conferencing as required.Any other duties as required by the Principal.Who May ApplyQualification in Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Psychology, Bachelor of Youth Work or higher.

Located in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Doveton College resides in one of the most disadvantaged metropolitan regions of Australia.
It is the first of ten settings to be developed in association with the Colman Foundation and DET.
In 2009, the Colman Foundation approached the Victorian Government with a desire to become directly involved in the education of young people who come from a background of disadvantage, including high migrant and refugee groups.
The Colman Foundation provided a financial contribution and continues to provide an annual financial contribution to allow for additional services to be provided which are over and above the normal funding regime for the College.
The Foundation has a goal of changing the life opportunities of young people by supporting families and communities access education, health and wrap-around services with the school at the centre of the services.
Doveton College is complex in its operation; it seeks to support, foster and develop opportunities for all members of the Doveton Community including children, young people, and adults.
The focus is on providing high quality teaching and learning programs across the 0 – 15 range with additional learning opportunities for parents and the wider community members.
It provides a wide range of wrap-around educational and allied health support for Baby College, Maternal and Child Health services, and Adult Learning opportunities.
Early Learning has been accredited as a AQECA Centre of Excellence operating a long day setting, with a focus on learning through play in a structured, appealing indoor, outdoor learning environment.
On any week, the College is a vibrant learning hub with 130 children in early learning, 620 students in Foundation to Year 9, 150 involved in play groups, 70 regular volunteers and 150 participants in adult education courses.
Each week students from Foundation to Year 9 participate in the Doveton Engagement and Enrichment Program (DEEP) which operates as an extension to the school day and includes sports, performance, technology and artistic programs.
