We are currently searching for an experienced Ports Engineer Practice Lead to support our Southeast Region located in Florida.
What you'll be doing: Serving as a practice builder and growing the SE Region's ports practiceConducting ongoing business development activitiesHiring, managing, and motivating staffIndependently performing and supervising structural analysis and design for marine and upland componentsIndependently performing and supervising berthing and mooring analysesLeading development of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for a variety of port projectsApplying a strong understanding of maritime codes and references including UFC, PIANC, ASCE-61Independently preparing basis of design, design calculations, technical reports, alternatives analyses, and study reportsUtilizing your appropriate understanding of interdisciplinary requirements for port projects to improve project processes and perform QA / QC reviewsAttending client meetings and performing site visitsMentoring a team of developing port and maritime engineersLeveraging existing industry relationships to promote Volkert ports services and cross-sell across all disciplinesPerforming additional responsibilities as required by the region's business needsWhat you need to have: Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil / Structural EngineeringMinimum 10 years of experience in analysis and design of port structuresProfessional Engineer (PE) License in the State of FloridaExcellent written and oral communication skillsPrevious experience in analysis and design of medium to large scale ports / maritime / structures and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimatesProven experience in business developmentAbility to hire, manage, and motivate staffExisting relationships with port entities in FLCharacteristics of a successful Volkert team member: Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environmentExercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problemsBe able to communicate effectively - verbal and writtenBe able to multi-task in a team environmentBe a brand ambassador for the companyVolkert Perks: Competitive compensationFlexibility and a positive work / life balanceChallenging and innovative projectsEmployee referral programProfessional developmentEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)401(k) retirement savings plan + employer matchingPaid Time Off (PTO) and holidaysMedical, Dental, & VisionEmployer-paid Life / AD&D insuranceEmployer-paid short-term and long-term disabilityWellness incentivesAdditional voluntary benefitsVolkert does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies or based recruitment services.
