As part of the IHG team, our people help our guests create amazing memories and deliver our purpose of providing True Hospitality for Good.The InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef will immerse you in the wonders of the Whitsundays, working in a five-star luxury environment which offers amazing career growth opportunities, professional training & development and provides a one-of-a-kind experience living and working in a tropical island paradise.About the RoleTitle – Junior Sous ChefSalary range - $75,000 p.a - $80,000 p.a (exclusive of superannuation)Position Type – Full TimeLocation – InterContinental Hayman Island Great Barrier Reef, Hayman Island, Whitsundays, QLD 4802As Junior Sous Chef, you will be required to provide leadership and support to the Kitchen team and participate in the daily production of food, working in conjunction with the Executive Chef and Culinary leadership team to ensure planning and direction of food service is produced to the highest quality and consistency, including food preparation, quality, physical maintenance, and inventory functions, to ensure hotel quality standards and revenue goals are met and food and supply costs are controlled.Your Day to DayThe role involves managing daily kitchen operations, setting team performance goals, and providing mentorship to improve staff performance and resolve conflicts.
It includes training team members on compliance with brand standards and regulations, promoting teamwork through collaboration with other departments, and supporting events.
Additionally, responsibilities encompass menu development, maintaining food safety and storage protocols, ensuring equipment functionality, adhering to health regulations, and promoting workplace health and safety initiatives.What We Need From YouCandidates should have completed a minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or relevant equivalent, along with over two years of chef experience or an equivalent combination of education and culinary experience.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment preparing and cooking high-quality dishes is required.
Additionally, candidates must possess current food safety certification and be fluent in English.
