Summary: Under the direction of the Team Leader, the Class 1 Driver is responsible for the safe operation of various types of tractor trailers including vans and decks for pick-up and delivery of materials for transport to a destination.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment testing and requires a Class 1 driver's license (or equivalent) and a satisfactory Five (5) year Commercial Driver's Abstract to support insurability.
The employee is also required to complete an in-house road-test prior to onboarding.
Key Focuses: Operate commercial vehiclesComplete daily driver logs in accordance with Alberta's hour of service regulationsFill out pre and post trip inspectionsEnsure vehicle is properly equipped and in proper working orderGive proper care to the operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipmentFollow the scheduled plan for deliveries and inform the supervisor if you must deviate for any reasonMaintain shipping and loading documentsMaintain professional driving habits at all timesBe alert to risks and threats in order to prevent losses before they occurMust be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge and Skill Requirements: Valid Class 1 driver's license and clean five (5) year driver's abstractFive (5) year Commercial Driver Abstract, current within 30 days, is required.High School Diploma or GED equivalent is requiredAbility to speak, read, and write English is requiredMinimum of two (2) years experience is requiredLoad securement and deck experience is requiredAir Brake "Q" Endorsement is requiredForklift certification is requiredWarehousing/yard work experience is an assetMust be legally eligible to work in CanadaThis is a full-time position based in Edmonton, AB.Work schedule: Tuesday to Friday; 10 hour days; 9:00 am - 7:30 pm
