The Facilities Captain will manage all of the facility operations and administration to ensure all facilities are maintained and presented to the highest possible standards and in a safe and environmentally responsible way.
They will ensure customer satisfaction in the physical environments is maximised supporting our customer first philosophy.
They have the authority to make the necessary decisions to ensure the highest levels of safety and customer experience are always maintained.
The Facilities Captain will be proactive in providing visible leadership and direction to all staff ensuring that all areas of the facility are operating efficiently and with the highest possible level of service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily operation of the facility In consultation with the Head of Facilities, required tasks include but are not limited to: Rostering and Deputy approvals for Duty Captains, Lifeguard teams.
Ensure development, training compliance & attendance for staff teams.
Ensure the facility maintains appropriate levels of First Aid stock.
Incident management, review & follow up.
Ensure water quality management is appropriately maintained through Pool test logs, preventative maintenance for plant & equipment & backwashing schedules.
Complete chemical ordering for Pool chemicals.
Ensure PPE is appropriately maintained.
In consultation with Head of Facilities: Risk assessments, Safe Operating Procedures, GSPO compliance & deployment documentation for Supervision.
In consultation with the Head of Facilities, ensure the cleaning standards for the facility are appropriately maintained.
Oversee contractor management systems & ensure processes are implemented effectively.
Follow up on Hazard ID's reported throughout the facility.
Duty Captain Conduct regular internal and external facility walkthroughs demonstrating leadership and monitoring cleanliness, presentation, service quality and safety.
Ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and presentation at all times.
Troubleshoot plant and equipment.
Engage approved suppliers to undertake maintenance as required, minimising downtime.
Detailed and timely reporting of maintenance items to Head of Facilities and Council as appropriate.
Liaise with user groups and service delivery staff to direct, coordinate to ensure that the facility is set up for programs as required.
Staff leadership and supervision across the entire service delivery team.
Ensure compliance to all shift checklists.
Coordination of staff rosters, breaks and changes.
Support staff to maximise sales opportunities for all programs and memberships.
Assist staff to minimise wait times, especially at the front desk and on the phones.
Ensure the facility opens on time and programs start on time.
Transition facility management to the next Duty Captain or ready for the following day.
Ensure all reports, checklists and procedures are completed and signed off.
Health and Safety of all staff and customers Support Head of Facilities to manage all relevant aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
Implement and monitor compliance to policies and procedures.
Implement and document hazard and environment inspections, risk assessments, risk controls and corrective actions.
Ensure health and safety is discussed with all staff, on every shift.
Oversee the evacuation of the facility in accordance with procedures as required.
Act as Chief Warden for the facility.
Investigate all incidents and implement actions to prevent reoccurrence, maintaining written records.
Risk assess work instructions to identify any hazards and take action to rectify any identified risks.
Ensure the dissemination of OHS, Risk and Environment information to staff relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
Ensure all employees and contractors are inducted and receive regular training as required.
Aquatic Supervision and Safety Provide support to Head of Facilities to implement best practice aquatic supervision plans for all aquatic environments to minimise the risk of drownings and injury and maximise customer satisfaction and enjoyment.
Provide support to Head of Facilities to ensure aquatic facilities comply with all applicable legislation and guidelines in relation to aquatic supervision and safety.
Ensure all Duty Captains and Lifeguards are appropriately trained and managed to maximise customer enjoyment in a safe manner.
Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders Aligned Leisure will be renowned for delivering outstanding service and providing memorable experiences for our customers.

Customer complaint and dispute resolution Authority to solve customer issues on the spot, without the need to seek approval from a member of the management team.
Ensure all complaints are followed up in a timely manner.
Actively seek customer feedback on service levels.
The Facilities Captain may from time to time be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Eurobodalla Arts & Leisure Manager and Head of Facilities & Safety.
Undertaking a Duty Captain shift may form part of another role within the Bay Pavilions and Shire Pools.
If so, the employee's focus during such shift must be on delivering the requirements of this position description.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Pool Operation Certificate (Preferred, but not essential) Previous experience in customer service The position will be subject to relevant pre-employment checks and must maintain a current working with children check.
The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain Pool Lifeguard, first aid and CPR qualifications.
