Westmead HospitalQuinquennial Visiting Medical Officer (until 30/06/27) – Interventional Neuroradiology Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the Visiting Medical Officer position in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
This position will be primarily located at Westmead Hospital within the Department of Interventional Neuroradiology.
The Interventional Radiology Service within the Department of Neurosurgery provides the full spectrum of INR procedures including clot retrieval and stroke management, aneurysm treatment by coil or stent and embolisation.
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care.
This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the WSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
The position will provide clinical consultation services and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals, and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.
Essential Requirements for Appointment Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the RACR, RACS or RACP or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997.
Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable).Sound clinical knowledge in Interventional Neuroradiology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.Expertise in relevant fields sufficient for appointment to the position.Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, or Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, or Royal Australasian College of Physicians or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.Eligibility for CCINR registration or equivalent (e.g.
EBNI), within 6 months of position commencement.Demonstrated ability to practice neuro-interventional radiology procedures at a tertiary referral level.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.Demonstrated commitment to teaching and published research as relevant to the position.Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.Working With Children Check Applicants must provide evidence of a Working with Children Check issued by the Office of Communities Commission for Children and Young People.
