Job Summary: As a Psychologist and Behaviour Support Specialist at Happy Care, you'll assess and treat a wide range of mental health conditions and behavioural challenges for NDIS clients with diverse disabilities.
Your work will directly impact clients' emotional well-being, coping skills, behaviour management, and overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using tools like the WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WAIS-IV, and WMS-IV to evaluate cognitive abilities and emotional functioning.
Create and execute personalised treatment plans for conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Implement evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness practices.
Develop and lead group therapy sessions focusing on social skills training, stress management, and emotion regulation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including OTs, speech therapists, and support coordinators to align psychological interventions with overall NDIS goals.
Conduct regular progress assessments using standardised measures to track therapeutic outcomes and adjust NDIS goal-directed treatments.
Provide specialised support for disability-specific challenges , helping clients understand their diagnosis and develop tailored coping strategies.
Implement behavioural management strategies for both children and adults to address challenging behaviours and promote positive interactions.
Offer trauma-informed care to help clients process and heal from past traumas, including grief and loss.
Facilitate goal-setting and motivation enhancement sessions to help clients pursue personal and NDIS objectives with confidence.
Provide substance use support for clients struggling with drug or alcohol issues, focusing on recovery and overall well-being.
Develop and implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans for clients with challenging behaviours, focusing on proactive strategies and skill-building.
Conduct functional behaviour assessments to identify triggers and functions of challenging behaviours.
Train caregivers and support staff in implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour support interventions , making data-driven adjustments as needed.
Conduct problem-solving skills training to equip clients with effective techniques for managing life's challenges.
Write detailed clinical notes, assessment reports, and NDIS progress summaries within 24 hours of each session.
Train families and support workers in strategies to reinforce therapeutic techniques and manage mental health challenges at home.
Attend NDIS planning meetings to advocate for clients' ongoing mental health support needs and funding requirements.
Complete annual continuing education in areas such as disability-specific mental health interventions and NDIS best practices.
Qualifications: Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology (Provisional Psychologists are also considered).
Current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, or certification as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
Minimum 2 years of experience in disability or mental health settings (NDIS experience is a plus).
Proficiency in conducting and interpreting standardised psychological assessments.
Experience with evidence-based therapies (CBT, ACT, mindfulness) and their application to disability contexts.
Strong documentation skills and familiarity with NDIS reporting requirements.
Experience in developing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse client populations.
