About Radiology department

The main Department of Radiology is located on Levels 1 and 2 of the Lance Townsend Building, Austin Hospital. The Department comprises 21 diagnostic Staff Radiologists, 9 Interventional Radiologists including 3 neurointerventional radiologists, 4 Visiting Radiologists and 25 Radiology Registrars/Fellows.

About the role

HPB/Body Fellow

The Body/Hepatobiliary Radiology Fellowship typically involves a majority of diagnostic imaging, although some interventional experience can be incorporated on request. The Fellow will become experienced and competent in the interpretation and assessment of all forms of hepatobiliary imaging (US, CEUS, intraoperative US, CT and MRI) including advanced techniques.

Oncology Fellow

This fellowship position aims to provide a unique opportunity for the candidate to develop subspecialty skills in Oncological Imaging. This encompasses imaging skills in all facets of Oncology, including diagnosis, staging, imaging guided treatment planning, therapeutic monitoring, clinical trial and restaging, using a variety of imaging modalities, particularly in Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Positron Emission Tomography.

Neuroradiology Fellow

To become proficient at all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology, including understanding imaging guidelines, protocols, precautions and reporting of imaging studies. To present at multidisciplinary team meetings with consultant supervision.

Interventional Fellow

The interventional radiology fellowship involves predominantly Vascular and nonvascular procedures especially in interventional oncology with hepatobiliary, urology, gynaecological and venous access procedures, with a growing volume of gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal procedures.

NeuroInterventional Fellow

This unique Interventional Neuroradiology (INR) Fellowship has been created in collaboration with St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. The successful candidate will gain experience in patient assessment and management, neuroradiological interpretation, endovascular clot retrieval and intracranial aneurysm treatment within a full spectrum of neurointervention procedures as part of a comprehensive neurointervention service. As an indication, work volume for 2023 included 100 endovascular aneurysm treatments, 140 endovascular stroke treatments, 25 carotid stents, 20 vertebroplasty procedures, along with a smaller number of AVM, dAVF, and endovenous procedures.

Medical Registration in Australia

Have passed the Part II exam of the RANZCR or equivalent
