The team behind the award-winning Bedarra Island Resort has just launched the most spectacular mainland resort and restaurant/bar in Tropical North Queensland; The Elandra at Mission Beach.

Commanding a spectacular clifftop location perched above the mesmerising Coral Sea, the resort presents unhindered and breathtaking views of nearby Dunk, Bedarra, Hinchinbrook, and the surrounding Family Group of Islands; with the Great Barrier Reef glistening on the horizon.

Hidden amongst 6 hectares of private tropical rainforest, The Elandra offers an experience of pure barefoot luxury.
Serving as a haven of relaxation, it's exclusively designed for extravagant getaways, intimate events, and epicurean delights.

Offering 20 boutique designer resort rooms, an amazing open-terrace tropical restaurant and bar, and one of the most spectacular pool decks in Australia, The Elandra offers a private tropical escape or spectacular event venue like no other.

We are now expanding our kitchen team and have an amazing opportunity for a dynamic Sous Chef to join the group.

The Restaurant
The restaurant and bar are the heart and soul of Elandra.
Offering mesmerizing ocean views from the newly renovated alfresco dining area, guests will experience true tropical dining with some of the most spectacular views on the east coast of Australia.

The menu concept will be modern Australian using the freshest of local ingredients, cooked simply and presented spectacularly.
Seafood and Asian influences will feature heavily, along with the abundant and amazing produce available locally.

The Role
The Sous Chef Role supports the Executive Chef amongst a small team of kitchen professionals.

In addition to preparing quality cuisine, the role will involve menu development, staff training, and stock control.

The position would suit someone who is ready to step up to the next level of responsibility on their way to potentially becoming a head chef of a venue.

Skills & Experience
Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or senior CDP in a high-quality restaurant.
Expertise in all cooking techniques, flavours, and ingredients with an emphasis on Asian flavours and seafood.
Creative and innovative approach to menu development and food presentation using traditional and modern cooking techniques.
Strong leadership, training, and development skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Ability to work in a small team environment.
Adaptable to change.
Understanding of stock control & ordering processes.
Able and willing to work shift work, including weekends and public holidays.
