Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert.
Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.

Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia.
Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services.
It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity:
This role offers a unique opportunity to join the Ngaanyatjarra Council team in remote WA as a Yarnangu Inclusion Coordinator .
In this role, you will support the implementation of the Yarnangu Activity Work Plan, supervising the Wellbeing Officer and two Yarnangu staff to ensure the program's effective and coordinated delivery.
Regular engagement with community members, key stakeholders, and leaders is essential to identify needs and establish community support mechanisms.
You will actively participate in the development and implementation of community plans, projects, and promotional activities.
To evaluate the program's evolution, challenges, and successes, surveys will be conducted with participants, families, and carers.
The project focuses on providing opportunities for participants through targeted activities, supported interactions with service providers, and identifying specialist services to enhance their wellbeing and growth.
You will create referral opportunities for clients from other programs, including mental health and NDIS, while promoting inclusion and accessibility through community events, capacity building, and strengthening family and carer networks.
In collaboration with the Wellbeing Officer, individual goal plans will be designed and implemented.
There will be an element of supporting, mentoring, and coordinating staff training needs, along with conducting performance appraisals and managing staff performance when necessary.

About You:
We are seeking a dedicated Yarnangu Coordinator with extensive experience whose background includes leading, supervising, and supporting teams, as well as providing training, skills transfer, and facilitating learning experiences.
You will have qualifications in Disability Services and extensive experience working in the disability sector in Australia.
You are deeply aware of the unique challenges and contexts of remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and have a proven ability to deliver services in cross-cultural environments.
Proficient in commonly used office software such as word processing and email, you also have a strong understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation, particularly as it relates to environmental health and rural or remote work settings.
Your interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills enable you to negotiate and liaise effectively with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
Additionally, you excel in self-management and time management, working independently with a self-motivated approach to achieve outcomes.

The successful applicant must hold a Current Manual WA Drivers Licence, Current National Police Clearance and WA Working with Children Clearance or the ability to obtain, and have the ability to travel regionally, remotely, and interstate on unsealed roads by 4WD or by light aircraft.
