The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist (Agronomy) to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
The Senior Research Scientist is part of the Agronomy Program in the Crop Sciences research Development Institute (SARDI).
The primary purpose of the role is to lead research and development on agronomy outcomes relevant to the Mid North and Yorke Peninsula regions of South Australia.
The role will be responsible for providing research direction and leadership to the SARDI Clare Agronomy team.
The role contributes to delivering SARDI's priority of leading and conducting innovative research to reduce on-farm inputs and increase productivity and sustainability of our primary industries for the benefit of South Australia.
The Senior Research Scientist will be located at the Clare Research Centre.
The Clare Research Centre is SARDI's key Centre with a focus on cereal, pulse and oilseed crops.
The role will focus on optimising agronomic management options across the Mid North and Yorke Peninsula regions of South Australia including projects focused on agronomy, nutrition, weed management, farming systems, value adding and/or reduced emissions production systems.

Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

Requirements
Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
Located at the Clare Research Centre with occasionally work off-site at other regional PIRSA locations and on private farms throughout SA agricultural regions.
Use of common agriculture chemicals is required and a Chemcert chemical handler's certificate or a willingness to obtain one is essential.
This position involves field work and exposure to dust and pollen.
Essential Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in Agricultural Science (or related field) with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in agronomy research.
Desirable Qualifications: PhD is highly advantageous.

PO4 - $110,696 min - $120,470 max per annum, plus superannuation
