- This position is located on the Core Operations Unit (COU), Information Technology Service (ITS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna, Austria. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Servers Team Supervisor, COU Team Leader and the overall supervision of the Service Delivery Officer in the Office of the Chief, ITS.
- Responsibilities
- Within delegated authority, the incumbent will perform effective information technology support with regards to the provision of Servers Infrastructure, virtualization, directory, file systems, operating systems, cloud hosting, backup, hardware, remote services to UNOV, UNODC and other Vienna-based organizations obtaining services from UNOV. The Information Technology Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: Server Operations and Administration - Cloud Resources Operations - Perform administration, operation, technical support, and monitoring of server systems, local Active Directory. - Liaise with other groups of IT and the user Departments for maintaining the efficient and reliable operations of server systems. - Perform 24x7 operations of assigned systems as per approved schedule. - Assist in identifying the need for new systems or re-engineering of the existing systems. - Respond to requests from user offices and assists in deploying/configuring systems to conform to infrastructure standards. - Collect various statistics on the performance and reliability of server systems and produces pertinent reports. - Maintain the documentation of server systems, pertinent to operations and system administration. - Prepare, maintain, and update files (electronic and paper) and internal databases. - Draft documentation and reports. - Maintain clouding systems (Azure & AWS) for UNOV/UNODC, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, virtual hosting in the cloud, subscriptions administration and implementation. - Coordinate on new site creations and manage the access of the respective sites. - Handle the Active Directory user creations, extensions as well as the deactivations. - Grant access to SharePoint through the Exchange Admin Centre and MS Teams. - Handle OneDrive and SharePoint issues. - Follow up with the Windows Server Updates and assist with Software Deployment. Service Coordination - Receive and log service requests in the automated request management system. - Create and assign work orders in accordance with established procedure. - Distribute work assignments and monitor progress. - Liaise with other areas of ITSD to facilitate completion of service requests. - Provide advice to clients regarding ITSD standards and workflow processes. - Perform quality assurance procedures to ensure client satisfaction. - Address escalated problems and monitor to resolution. - Detect problem patterns and recommend solutions. - Keep abreast of latest ITSD standards and technology. Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent. PRINCE2 Practitioner Certificate in Project Management is desirable. Microsoft certifications are desirable.

- Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
