**The Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), **Austria’s central non-university research and science

institution, which supports 25 basic research institutes of excellent international standing** **is seeking a

**SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR (F*M) WITH TENURE **_at the
- **_Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information - IQOQI Innsbruck._**

dedicated to theoretical and experimental basic research in the field of quantum science and its relation to

information processing. In the past 20 years the IQOQI Innsbruck has established itself as a highly innovative,

world class research institute. The new Scientific Director should supplement and strengthen the institute's

research environment that encourages unconventional ideas and allows for significant breakthroughs,

advances and discoveries.

The OeAW is looking for a strong and ambitious personality with innovative research ideas and an

quantum sciences and enjoy an outstanding international reputation among their colleagues. The ideal

international scientific community. The future Scientific Director should develop a cutting-edge research

program at the institute in Innsbruck and ensure it remains an attractive place for top level scientists while

retaining high visibility in the public domain.

The IQOQI Innsbruck receives basic funding from the OeAW, and additional national and international

third-party funding for designated research projects. The institute offers a world-class scientific and

collaborative research environment for about 50 scientists and is supported by skilled in-house

administrative and technical staff. A close assotiation in teaching and research with the University of

Innsbruck is intended.

We offer an attractive recruitment package that includes an internationally competitive salary and a

substantial annual research budget (personnel, consumables, investments).

The term of appointment as Scientific Director is tenured. The new Scientific Director will lead the institute

jointly with fellow Scientific Directors. The OeAW pursues a non-discriminatory employment policy and
