**The role**

As the **Backend Development Team Lead**, you will not only be responsible for developing and delivering robust software solutions but also for leading and mentoring a talented & motivated team. Your role will be pivotal in driving the technical direction of the team, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance and scalability.

You will have the unique opportunity to shape UBIMET's technology strategy, playing a critical role in building software products that transform meteorological and geospatial data into compelling customer solutions.

**Your main responsibilities**
- ** Lead and Mentor**: Guide and support the backend development team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
- ** Transform Data into Products**: Lead the team in turning complex meteorological and geospatial data into innovative, user-friendly products.
- ** Design Scalable Solutions**: Oversee the creation of scalable and maintainable services and APIs to provide weather data to a global audience.
- ** Hands-on Development**: Actively contribute to coding using Python, Flask, Django, PostgreSQL, and Memcached, building robust backend systems.
- ** Optimize Core Systems**: Ensure the development of efficient backbone components that support UBIMET’s range of products, with a focus on sustainability and scalability.
- ** Encourage Innovation**: Promote the use of new technologies and practices that enhance performance and streamline development processes.

**You’re a fit if you have**
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
- A passion for solving technical problems with an analytical mind.
- Strong knowledge of Python.
- An understanding of complex systems and typical system design patterns.
- Experience with Linux (Debian flavors preferred).
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment and a willingness to learn.
- Fluency in English; German is a plus.
