Director, Open Nuclear Network
vor 3 Wochen
**Organization Summary**:
For more than a decade, One Earth Future (OEF) has worked to solve complex problems at the root of armed conflict. Through its unique culture of iterative learning and improvement, OEF designs, tests, and partners to scale programs that help communities see problems in new ways and solve them collectively. With its headquarters in Colorado and offices around the world, OEF operates as a portfolio of peacebuilding programs, each with its own director, strategy, and budget. What holds them together is a common purpose: to provide an impartial platform for diverse stakeholders to form adaptive problem-solving networks for peace. At the foundation level, OEF provides the financial, strategic, and operational support needed to iteratively develop solutions to complex problems that could not have been designed in advance.
**Programme summary**:
Today, more than ever before, nuclear weapons are at risk of being used due to human or technical error, uncertainty about adversaries’ capabilities or intentions and intentional misdirection, particularly in the context of escalating conflict. The mission of Open Nuclear Network (ONN) is to reduce the risk of unintentional nuclear weapons use through innovation, inclusion and dialogue supported by open-source data.
Open Nuclear Network works on nuclear risk reduction in two complementary ways:
- A team of analysts collects data and produces informational briefs using unclassified sources, leveraging publicly available data and state-of-the-art technology.
- In tandem, ONN deploys a network of trusted third parties for data-enabled efforts to improve dialogue among world leaders and decision makers and promote nuclear de-escalation.
**Primary Role**:
Reporting to the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of OEF, the Director of ONN is responsible for the overall strategy and operations of ONN’s analysis and engagement pillars, with the goal of reaching decision makers, promoting dialogue and de-escalating conflict that could give rise to the inadvertent use of nuclear weapons. The Director is responsible for the planning, budgeting, staffing, operations and risk management of ONN in accordance with the policies of OEF.
The Director will be a recognized senior player in global nuclear weapons policy. They must be innovative, entrepreneurial, mission-driven and ambitious, while possessing a breadth of knowledge and networks relevant to the technical and policy components of ONN.
The Director will be well organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of working in a culturally diverse and diplomatic environment. S/he will be a leader with excellent communication skills and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
