Laboratory Technician in Metabolomics

The Molecular Discovery Platform at CeMM is looking for a

Laboratory Technician in Metabolomics (M/F/d)

Your tasks
- Conducting LC-MS based metabolomic analyses, including preparation of standards, reagents and samples as required by the analytical method standard operating procedures
- Operation, maintenance and basic troubleshooting of LC-MS instrumentation
- Conducting customized LC-MS based assays for analysis of metabolites/small molecules according to standard operating procedures of the Metabolomics Facility
- Metabolomics data processing
- Supporting the Metabolomics Facility organization, including maintenance of laboratory supply inventory and ordering
- Participation in group meetings and presentation of research data

**Profile**:

- Degree in Biology, Chemistry or a related field
- Experience in a research laboratory environment
- Good basic knowledge and skills in LC-MS based analysis
- Ability to work independently on assigned research projects
- Basic knowledge of standard computer programs required, additional knowledge in scientific, graphic, and statistical software as well as mass spectrometry specific software (Trace Finder, Mass Hunter, Mass Lynx, or similar) desirable
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- high accuracy and reliability
- good command of spoken and written English

The Molecular Discovery Platform

The CeMM Molecular Discovery Platform uses a technology-driven approach to empower the discovery and characterization of such bioactive molecules, including proteins, metabolites, and novel synthetic compounds. These three classes of molecules are also the focus of the three modules that constitute the CeMM Molecular Discovery Platform — Proteomics, Metabolomics, and Chemical Screening. Using the latest technologies and state-of-the art instrumentation, we maximize coverage to biomolecules and enable data generation from mínimal biological sample amounts. The platform, with its three sub-facilities, provides services to all groups at CeMM as well as to external customers and thereby intends to contribute initial starting points towards discovering the therapies of the future.

The Metabolomics Facility at CeMM aims to provide highest quality metabolomics analyses on biological and biomedical research samples to its customers. This includes method development for detection and quantification of novel metabolites, systematic screening of established metabolites in the classes of amino acids, central carbon metabolism and TCA cycle metabolites, nucleotides, folates and lipids, and more focused analyses of selected metabolites. We aim to constantly develop and improve methods to more comprehensively cover the entire human metabolome and decrease the required sample amounts, while at the same time maintaining rigorous standards in data analysis and quantitation.
