Senior Lecturer at The Centre for Molecular Biology

The Centre for Molecular Biology of the University of Vienna is part of the Max Perutz Labs located at the Vienna BioCenter (VBC) with a focus on outstanding and internationally recognised research and teaching in the field of molecular biology. For students of several study programmes of the University of Vienna (Bachelor Biology; Master Molecular Microbiology, Microbial Ecology and Immunobiology; Master Molecular Biology and Master Genetics and Developmental Biology; as well as PhD in Molecular Biology) a broad range of courses is available.

**Duration of employment**:4 year/s

**Extent of Employment**: 20 hours/week, which include a teaching assignment of 7 hours scientific classes on average per semester
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: -48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will mainly be involved in lecture courses, seminars and providing scientific guidance for internships in the Study Programs Bachelor Biology (field of Molecular Biology, taught predominantly in German) as well as in the Master Molecular Biology (taught exclusively in English). The ongoing reception of the current state of the art in science as well as didactic training during non-teaching time are expected. In addition, the assumption of administrative activities, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the job description.

100% Senior Lecturer employment is preferred. Therefore we want to point out that a 50% Senior Lecturer position for practical teaching (reference number 13316) advertised by the Centre for Molecular Biology can be combined with the position listed here.

In case of a positive evaluation at the end of the term of employment, the employment contract may be extended for an indefinite period of time.

**Profile**:
Doctoral/PhD degree in Molecular Biosciences with specialisation in molecular biology, microbiology, genetics and/or biochemistry.

Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution exemplified by positive teaching evaluations.

Teaching qualifications; research experience in the field of molecular biology or biochemistry; high level of oral and written expression; experience in teaching courses in English; Completed doctoral/PhD degree in molecular biosciences with specialisation in molecular biology, microbiology, genetics and or biochemistry. Special knowledge of databases relevant to molecular biology.
