**Master Thesis "Building Digital Twins of Large Scale Electrical Power Systems Applications - Limitations and challenges"** - Center for Energy - **IMAGINE** - As the landscape of devices that interact with the electrical grid expands, also the complexity of the scenarios arising from these interactions increases. - Moreover, information and communication technology is rapidly making its way in various operational aspects of the electrical power system, and at the same time it also brings various concerns related to cyber-security, reliability, and resilience. Therefore, modern power systems need to be investigated as large scale cyber-physical systems. **ENGAGE** - In order to achieve this, under the guidance of our team, you will first create a real-time model of the Austrian power transmission grid. - You will gain experience in the area of real-time simulation and will learn how to evaluate the limits of the existing tools. - Last but not least, you will investigate how components from the cyber domain can be interfaced with the real-time simulation. **ACHIEVE** - You will gain insight into the applied research working environment and will get to explore a cutting-edge research topic. - You will not only benefit from the scientific support provided by the Electric Energy Systems competence unit, but will also have the chance to interact and share views with experts from other research fields. **Your qualifications**: - Ongoing master’s studies in the field of energy informatics, industrial automation, or similar - Solid python programming skills - Previous experience related to electrical power systems is a plus - Would be nice to have: - Familiarity with Power Factory or Opal-RT - Intermediate C programming skills - Basic control of Docker - Working proficiency in English - Team player with a curious and determined attitude **What to expect**: EUR 1.241; - gross per month for 30 hours/week based on the collective agreement. There will be additional company benefits. You will be part of our international Young AIT network.
