Senior Legal Counsel – Energy Infrastructure / Major Projects Dovetail Legal Solutions Pty Ltd Brisbane, QLD A$250,000-$280,000 p / a Hybrid Posted 1 day ago SUMMARY Permanent, Commercial Senior Legal Counsel role supporting major energy projects in gas, electricity, hydrogen, and renewables. Based in Brisbane, this role reports to the General Counsel and works with stakeholders at all levels of the business. TASKS Provide strategic legal advice across the lifecycle of major energy projects, including gas, electricity, hydrogen, and renewable developments. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of project documentation, including development agreements, revenue/offtake agreements (e.g., PPAs / ESAs), agreements for processing, transportation, operation, and maintenance agreements, connection agreements, and related "upstream" project documents. Joint venture / bidding agreements, and other documentation for early‑stage development projects such as HOAs, MOUs, LOIs, and term sheets. General and ancillary commercial contracts for all business units, such as recoverable works agreements. High‑level regulatory matters – including with gas inquiries and ring‑fencing issues. Provide general commercial legal advice and support to the operating businesses as required from time to time, including dispute resolution. ABOUT YOU You are an experienced legal professional with expertise in advising on major energy projects from inception to completion. You combine technical legal skills with a pragmatic, commercial approach to deliver strategic outcomes. Admitted to practise in Australia with a current practising certificate. 10+ years' post‑admission experience on major projects, covering front and back‑end matters and a wide range of project documentation. In‑depth knowledge of energy sector projects (gas, electricity, hydrogen, renewables) and related regulatory frameworks. Expertise in contract interpretation, drafting, negotiation, and dispute resolution, with experience in construction law and contracts. Background in a leading law firm, ideally with in‑house experience, can act as a trusted advisor without external legal support when needed. Commercially astute, able to influence strategic direction and manage legal risks within organisational risk appetite. Skilled in stakeholder engagement, building effective relationships with executives, project teams, regulators, and external counsel.
