Location of work: Canberra / Hybrid; Remote Security Clearance: NV1 or higher Estimated start date: Monday, 02 February 2026 Our federal government client, the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) is seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to support the Digital Uplift Program (DUP) based on identified Work Packages. Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to design, implement and support complex technical solutions, including system integration and architecture development. Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or DevOps). Proven ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including program managers, delivery managers, and system analysts, to ensure alignment of solutions with business goals. Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF). Familiarity with government security and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISM, ASD Essential 8). Cloud expertise – experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud‑native solution design in government environments. Knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and automation tools. Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices relevant to government systems. Legacy system modernisation – experience with assessing and modernising legacy systems commonly found in government agencies.
