Join our team as an Education Assistant - Special Needs at the Department of Education, Western Australia . You will support students with disabilities at Leda Primary School, located in Leda, a suburb of Kwinana. We seek to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. Leda Primary School (LedaPS) was established in 1992 and is located in Leda, a suburb of Kwinana, approximately 40 kilometres south of Perth. The school became an Independent Public School (IPS) in 2014, allowing for greater autonomy and a school board that represents the community and oversees governance. The Role Suitable applicants will ideally have a high level of interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff members to meet the needs of students. You should possess knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties, supporting student growth both academically and socially within the classroom setting. In this role you will assist teaching staff in delivering planned education programs, promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and work under general supervision or autonomously. You will contribute advice and expertise, collaborate with the school community to support student achievement, and commit to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through reflective classroom practice and professional learning. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and occupational/physiotherapy programs if required. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well‑being of students.
