The Role Suitable applicants will support the Department’s main objective of teaching and learning of students through assisting teachers in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. At times, you may be required to share knowledge of school procedures, policies, and learning programs with families and the wider community. Suitable applicants are encouraged to grow and stay up to date with current strategies, research and technologies that enhance their work. Experience or knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice, mental health, autism, and intellectual disability is highly valued, as is training in Team Teach and the ability to provide safe, positive handling of students when required. In addition, an ability to support students in off‑site programs (eg. Workplace Learning and Volunteering) is highly regarded. Eligibility Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented. Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
