About the Role You will be responsible for assisting partners and other members of Clyde & Co with the new business inception process in line with legislation and regulatory requirements. This will include conflict of interest searches for legal and commercial conflicts, anti‑money laundering processes for new and existing clients, ongoing client monitoring, sanctions checks and other risk management procedures. About the Team You will be part of the Global BAU Team, reporting to the Conflicts and Compliance Team Leaders and the Head of BAU. The BAU Team consists of three Team Leaders, five Senior Conflicts and Compliance Analysts, Conflicts and Compliance Analysts, Conflicts and Compliance Assistants and Administration Assistants. Key Responsibilities and Objectives Review new client and matter forms to ensure satisfactory details are provided and query incomplete or unclear information. Analyse new clients and/or new matters to determine associated risks. Conduct conflict checks using the firm's conflict database, focusing on sensitive entries in the Black Book. Analyse conflict search results and liaise with Partners/Case Handlers on matters that may present a legal or commercial conflict, obtaining relevant information to make a judgement call. Escalate conflict issues to the Team Leaders, Head of BAU, Risk Lawyers and General Counsel with clear analysis and conclusions. Proactively follow up to obtain information or conflict resolution from stakeholders around the firm. Research, identify and verify new clients using online data providers and other resources. Analyse and establish corporate structures for relevant clients and trace ultimate beneficial owners. Advise Case Handlers on additional details required when information is not publicly available. Research and identify PEPs and high‑risk clients, create an online profile, assign a risk rating and, where required, escalade to the Team Leader or Head of BAU for decision making. Maintain technical knowledge and expertise on conflicts, AML and sanctions. Screen all clients and matters for sanctions, escalating adverse findings to the Risk Team and Sanctions Partners. Carry out conflict checking and client onboarding for lateral hires. Essential Skills and Experience Knowledge of the SRA and/or local rules on conflicts of interests and case law relevant to conflicts of interest (desirable). Knowledge of anti‑money laundering legislation (desirable). Strong MS Office skills. Meticulous attention to detail. Strong customer focus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Degree or other relevant qualifications (desirable); a law degree would be beneficial. Experience using Intapp, Elite Enterprise or similar management systems (desirable).
