About the Role Tenure: Permanent, full‑time. The Director Emerging Industries is an exciting new role within DEED overseeing the development of emerging economic diversification opportunities with a particular focus on health and biomedical life sciences and space industries. As Director, you will lead, develop and drive the delivery of key manufacturing and industry development deliverables, leading and coordinating a team of subject matter experts to ensure policy objectives respond to sector‑wide issues, focusing on sustainable and long‑term benefits for Western Australia. To succeed in this role you will need experience delivering complex industry development programs and engaging and managing a variety of stakeholders. Responsibilities Manage the development and implementation of emerging industries strategies, focusing on health, biomedical life sciences, and space sectors. Lead a team of experts to ensure policy objectives address sector‑wide issues and sustainability. Coordinate and deliver manufacturing and industry development programs. Engage with industry, government, and community stakeholders to gather insights and drive collaboration. Provide leadership, strategic direction, and stakeholder representation within the department. Qualifications Proven experience in industry development programs. Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills. Experience leading and coordinating cross‑functional teams. Knowledge of Western Australia’s economic and energy sectors. Assessment of leadership behaviours may be included in the recruitment process.
