Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub‑acute, mental health, specialist, community and home‑based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north. Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping Broadmeadows Hospital Bundoora Centre Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres Kilmore District Hospital In addition, mental health services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg. About the Role We are seeking a motivated and suitably experienced Mental Health Clinician to join Noogal Clinic in the Acute Crisis Intervention Services team. If you are an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist (registry programme candidate), Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Social Worker, we encourage you to apply. Responsibilities Provide timely comprehensive, recovery‑oriented assessment and community‑based interventions, care and support in collaboration with consumers, carers and families. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the right assessment has been provided to consumers. Use well‑developed writing skills to promptly prepare appropriate documentation for assessments, treatment plans, transition summaries and other forms of documentation. Participate in discipline‑specific clinical supervision and workload management, including attendance at clinical review and other reflective spaces. Engage in ongoing professional development activities, in‑service training and sharing new experiences with the wider team. Support the clinician in utilising their discipline‑specific skills within their work and actively participate in clinical review discussions, team reviews, documentation completion and ongoing professional development. Optionally undertake portfolio/special‑interest work depending on expertise, interest and team needs. About you Extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability. Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with consumers who have co‑occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers. Ability to work with consumers, families and carers from a range of cultural backgrounds and provide gender‑sensitive services.
