This role demands the technical precision of a CTO, the strategic foresight to catalyze change, and the commitment to unlock student achievement on a scale never before possible. Most organizations treat AI as a layer applied to conventional education structures. 2 Hour Learning has taken a fundamentally different approach: we have reconstructed schooling from first principles, integrating AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. Our students don’t simply progress — they excel, earning multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams, demonstrating years of academic advancement within a single year, and repeatedly surpassing their own projected outcomes. This is not a conventional product management position centered on user feedback cycles or incremental feature releases. This is an executive‑level technical product ownership role in which you will control the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across our complete learning ecosystem. You will be accountable for navigating the complex technical tradeoffs that keep our products streamlined, scalable, and uncompromisingly aligned with student outcome improvement. You will combine the analytical mindset of a CTO with the agility of a product entrepreneur, merging engineering discipline with learning science principles to drive continuous innovation. What You Will Be Doing Cultivating and applying comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction. Authoring technical specifications that address critical technical choices while prioritizing simplicity, operational efficiency, and sustainable architecture. Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, in alignment with the strategic objective of minimizing manual intervention. What You Won’t Be Doing Pure people management; this role centers on your business insight and technical depth. Spending time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have streamlined management processes so you can concentrate on delivering tangible business value through direct work. Abstract strategies disconnected from execution; your guidance must be grounded in product‑level understanding. Principal Product Architect Key Responsibilities Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, owning foundational capabilities and generating business impact through flawless execution and strategic leadership. Basic Requirements Significant experience or genuine interest in data‑driven learning science. 7+ years of experience making critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including the application of architecture design patterns or major open source technologies. 2+ years of experience making design decisions involving cloud computing services (primarily AWS). 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery ownership of a revenue‑generating product. Experience developing product features that leverage advanced generative AI. Experience applying generative AI to streamline work processes. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
