About the role: This is a full-time contract opportunity until December 2026, located in Oran Park NSW. Starting base annual salary of $94,498 to $100,280 negotiable based on experience, plus super, plus access to generous salary packaging options. Leave benefits included. About the opportunity: At Uniting, we believe every child, young person and family deserves to feel safe, supported and connected. Our Family Connect and Support (FCS) program is here for families who may be experiencing challenges but don’t yet meet the threshold for statutory intervention. We step in early, offering care, guidance and connection before issues escalate—helping families find their strength and their way forward. We’re searching for an Outreach Specialist with heart, courage and resilience. Someone who can walk alongside families in the Southwest Sydney community, listen without judgement, and create pathways that bring hope and stability. What you’ll be doing: Meet children, young people and families where they are—whether that’s in homes, schools, or community spaces. Build trust through compassion, patience and respect. Conduct whole-of-family assessments to understand vulnerabilities, risks and immediate needs. Partner with local services, schools, health providers and community groups to create strong support networks. Respond with care and professionalism when safety concerns arise. Advocate for the voices of children, young people and families in every decision that affects them. Your Qualifications & Experience A degree in Social Sciences, Youth Work or similar, or equivalent experience. Experience conducting needs and risk assessments with children, young people and families. A deep understanding of child protection issues and the courage to act when needed. The ability to engage with families from Aboriginal and CALD backgrounds in culturally respectful ways. A current NSW Working with Children Check and Driver’s Licence.
