The position holder will also teach in their subject area/s to a 0.4FTE load. At Ascham, teaching and learning for students in years 7 to 12 is based on the unique framework of The Dalton Plan. About this Role As an enthusiastic leader of learning who supports the School’s Executive, this role is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategies and programs that enhance the potential, efficacy, participation, motivation, connectedness and academic resilience of Ascham Students in Years 7 to 12. Working closely with School wellbeing, pastoral and enrichment teams, the position holder also supports the holistic development of students; and inspires them to engage meaningfully in academic / co-curricular programs, with a strong sense of belonging. What You Need to Do to Succeed Lead and support a team of Studies (Dalton) Coordinators Partner with others to provide tailored guidance, support and motivation strategies for students in years 7 to 12 Develop a program supporting Year 10 students in their transition to Year 11 Liaise with relevant stakeholders over the delivery of quality programs during non-academic periods Support and monitor students in their preparation and engagement with assessments; and those involved in external academic programs or competitions e.g. Da Vinci Decathlon Support boarding students, and those new to Ascham Use student attendance and wellbeing data to track students, monitor engagement and suggest interventions Support the Director of Studies and Year Coordinators in managing students with academic engagement concerns Identify aspirational students; and collaborate with internal stakeholders for suitable opportunities. What You Bring Tertiary / teaching qualifications, and accreditation with NESA Experience as an exceptional educator, with strong intellectual acumen and superb classroom practice Membership with educational panels including HSC Appeals and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) Ability to keep up to date with pedagogical and educational trends Appreciation of young people and their learning needs, with the ability to ensure continued engagement with students in years 7 to 12 Authentic commitment to the academic resilience of students, and ability to support them in becoming responsible, reflective, and resilient learners Proven success in leading a team, and ability to act as a mentor / role model to Senior School teachers Ability to communicate positively and effectively with students, parents and staff Strong IT competencies, and ability to use data to make informed decisions Ability to foster a positive and inclusive school culture, and contribute to the life of the School A current First Aid / CPR certificate and valid Working with Children clearance.
