Government schools – Melbourne Northern Suburbs VIC Overview Elevation Secondary College is an evidence‑based school located approximately 23 kilometres north of Melbourne, serving the rapidly growing communities of Aston, Highlands Estate, Craigieburn, Greenvale and beyond in Mickleham. Formerly an online and exam‑only school, it opened its doors in 2020 to a purpose‑built, state‑of‑the‑art facility featuring a Science, Technology and Arts building, a general‑purpose Learning Community building, an Administration Centre and a Library. In 2025 the school had grown to over 1,100 Year 7‑12 students and is celebrating its inaugural graduating class this December. Role Assistant Principal – Positive Climate For Learning – Mini School January 2026 start date negotiable (preferred Term 1 2026). The assistant principal works with two other assistants (Junior and Senior) and the Executive Team to maintain an orderly learning environment and improve student outcomes. Responsibilities Maintain and develop an orderly classroom environment within the school. Lead and manage an effective team of Year‑level leaders and Coordinators within a Mini School team. Monitor and improve attendance in the Mini School and maximise participation at those year levels. Manage groups of teachers, including classroom teachers and Mentor Group teachers. Liaise with external agencies, networks and providers to support student learning. Collaborate with the careers team and year‑level teams to build effective pathways programs. Support IEP development and the SSG process for students with additional needs and significant behavioural needs. Implement subject selection and other Mini School related programmes, such as transition, proactive programmes, etc. Contribute to the overall leadership and management of the whole school as part of the Executive Team. Other Assistant Principal Functions Supervision and coordination of senior curriculum or level coordinators. Allocation of budgets, positions of responsibility and other resources within the area of responsibility. Supervision of the delivery of teaching programmes. Management of programmes to improve the knowledge and experience of staff. Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers and year‑level coordinators. Contribute to the overall management of the school. Who May Apply Appropriately qualified individuals currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. For those who completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching programme or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, demonstration of successful completion of a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education programme, accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority, and meeting the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership accreditation standards. Graduates from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) requirements.
