THE ROLE The School Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of students across the College. This role provides high-quality first aid and medical care, supports the development and implementation of student medical plans, and ensures accurate documentation and communication with families and staff. The School Nurse contributes to a safe and responsive school environment, working collaboratively with the Wellbeing Team, Learning Support, and academic staff. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES First Aid and Medical Care Provide effective initial treatment for minor injuries and emergency medical situations. Dispense medication to students in accordance with College protocols and medical instructions. Record all treatment provided in the College’s Student Management System, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Communicate promptly and professionally with parents regarding student health concerns and treatment provided. Follow up with families after serious illness or injury and keep relevant staff informed of ongoing recovery plans. Medical Plans and Prevention Support the development, implementation, and review of medical action plans for students with chronic or complex health needs. Liaise with families, medical professionals, and staff to ensure plans are current and effectively communicated. Assist the Learning Support Coordinators in managing students with personalised learning and medical needs. Wellbeing and Case Management Contribute to the case management of students engaged with the College’s Wellbeing Team. Provide health-related insights and support for students experiencing physical or mental health challenges. Collate health-related data and document interventions for students requiring adjustments under the NCCD framework. Maintain accurate records of medical and wellbeing adjustments to support NCCD evidence requirements. Work collaboratively with Learning Support and academic staff to ensure health-related adjustments are implemented and monitored. Excursions, Camps and Events Review student medical forms prior to excursions and camps, ensuring appropriate medication and supplies are available. Communicate relevant medical information to staff attending excursions and camps. Attend excursions or camps to support students with specific medical needs, as required. Provide first aid support at College events and activities. Training and Compliance Deliver First Aid training to staff and students, as required. Develop and administer the College’s annual immunisation program in collaboration with health authorities. Maintain and replenish first aid kits, medications, and emergency supplies across the campus. Ensure compliance with NCCD documentation standards for health-related adjustments. General Support Assist with administrative and academic services duties as required. Maintain confidentiality and uphold the College’s commitment to child safety and wellbeing. QUALIFICATIONS Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration. Qualifications or willingness to gain certification in First Aid instruction. Qualifications or willingness to gain certification to administer immunisations. Previous experience in a school or child‑focused setting is desirable. SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and staff. Strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Office and student management systems. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism. Calm and responsive under pressure, with a caring and empathetic approach. REMUNERATION Terms and Conditions of employment will be in accordance with the ‘Anglican Schools Commission Inc. NSW Enterprise Agreement 2023’. Remuneration will be determined by the Principal according to qualifications and experience.
