Head of Retail- Lifestyle, home, bedding sector In-house position | Lead omni-channel retail for a fast-growing, ambitious and customer-first brand | Build and scale stores across Australia | Permanent | An exciting and newly created opportunity has opened up for a dynamic and commercially minded Head of Retail to join a high-growth, digitally native brand on its journey into physical retail. Reporting directly to the C‑Suite, this senior leadership role is pivotal in shaping the national store network, bringing the brand's online identity to life through immersive, elevated in-store experiences. As Head of Retail, you will own the physical retail strategy end‑to‑end, from store rollout and team development, to innovative visual merchandising, operations, and commercial performance. You’ll be responsible for turning retail concepts into thriving physical environments, driving brand consistency, store‑level P&Ls and a culture of innovation and exceptional service. You are a strong commercial and creative thinker, equally passionate about people, process, product, delivering excellent customer experience and inventory across multiple sites. Key Responsibilities Lead the rollout and growth of a national store network – including store design, project management, team recruitment, and grand openings. You will be translating our client’s online brand into an engaging and immersive retail experience. Be the visionary for in‑store retail experiences – driving creative, fresh, and on‑brand visual merchandising across all locations. Champion operational excellence with clear processes around inventory, store‑level ordering, and fulfillment (click & collect, ship‑from‑store). Manage and optimise retail P&L, individual store budgets, and performance metrics. Build and inspire a values‑led, high‑performing retail leadership team and culture. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to align store strategy with digital, marketing, merchandising and supply chain. Ensure compliance, safety, and ethical standards across all physical operations. Embed customer insights and feedback into ongoing retail improvement and innovation. Maintain a deep understanding of product presentation. Qualifications and Skills 8+ years of experience in senior retail leadership, ideally with experience launching or scaling store networks in multi‑site or national retail environments. Experience in the mattress, bedding or home / lifestyle category strongly preferred. Strong visual merchandising capability with an eye for creating fresh, engaging, and branded in‑store experiences. Experience working in fast‑paced, digitally led or DTC businesses (highly advantageous). Strong understanding of omnichannel operations, store fulfillment models, inventory systems, click and collect and shipments from stores. Experienced with store operations where each location manages its own inventory and ordering. Excellent communicator with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills. Comfortable project managing store builds from the ground up – floorplans, timelines, supplier management, and execution. Strong knowledge of store systems, retail merchandising, team management and sales performance. Confident balancing commercial outcomes with creative execution.
