About the Role As the Development Delivery Team Leader , you will: Lead and mentor a diverse team of development specialists to deliver high‑quality outcomes across the Willoughby LGA, including development control engineers, a traffic officer, landscape architect, arborist, and waste specialist. Provide technical expertise on referrals related to waste management, stormwater, traffic and parking, landscape architecture, and arboriculture. Manage construction permits and approvals throughout the project lifecycle, supporting efficient and compliant project delivery. Communicate technical information clearly, negotiate with developers and contractors, and resolve conflicts effectively. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate policy approaches and resolve complex development challenges. Represent Council in legal proceedings as an expert witness, contributing to sound planning decisions and upholding regulatory integrity. Enhance the Development Assessment Referral process by driving best practices and ensuring quality service delivery. What You’ll Bring A degree or qualification in Town Planning, Urban Design, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field, along with solid experience in development or infrastructure projects. Hands‑on experience managing complex or large‑scale development applications, especially in busy urban or CBD environments. A good understanding of current Australian design standards and how they apply to development projects. Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, support and motivate a diverse team of professionals. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively. Confidence using systems to manage records and data accurately and efficiently.
