QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities. About The Role You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing workplace health and safety (WHS) advice, service and assistance to the department, including a diverse range of WHS activities and technical matter relating to building, construction and maintenance industry. Duties And Skills Involved Conducting site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure compliance for both QBuild and contractor delivered work on construction sites in various mediums including small, medium and large-scale projects. Providing WHS&E advice and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding QBuild Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, and legislative compliance. Assisting with the development and delivery of information sessions educating on the relevant WHS&E information and activities to department staff. This may include but is not limited to training of internal safety management systems, WHS&E inductions and relevant WHS&E internal training modules. Assisting with reporting and investigating QBuild WHS&E incidents and contractor notifiable incidents. Assisting with the worker rehabilitation and return to work programs, under the guidance of the RRTW Advisor or WHS Manager. Assisting with coordinating with the emergency planning and response activities for QBuild offices and depots. Assisting with the development, review and implementation of SWMSs, risk assessments and WHS Management plans and reporting for regions and business. Assisting with the delivery of a range of health and safety programs, to enable a service that is responsive to the needs of the stakeholders. The Skills You Will Need Include Being Able To Knowledge of industry, or similar industry, to understand the hazards, risks and control measures. Ability to interpret WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards / International Standards, to provide advice and guidance to stakeholders. Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including employees, managers and other internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated capacity to liaise in a clear and concise manner through utilisation of structured written and oral communication. Additional Requirements Travel within the Rockhampton region, with occasional overnight stays required for work within the Greater Central Queensland area, or other locations across the state. As most travel will be by road, a valid Driver's Licence is essential. At times, you may also be required to travel by light aircraft, with overnight stays of up to four nights (or as negotiated).
