About the role The Deputy Director-General’s Group oversees the efficient, effective and ethical management of the National Archives’ resources. This is done in accordance with the Commonwealth’s financial, procurement, employment, security and property legislative and policy frameworks. The Branch supports the workforce, facilities and culture it requires to deliver its strategic priorities and remain sustainable. The Finance and Procurement section is responsible for the provision of high quality, timely and accurate financial and procurement advice and services to the National Archives while ensuring it meets its legislative and compliance financial framework obligations. Responsibilities Coordinate and facilitate the National Archives internal and external budgeting cycle activities, including, but not limited to: developing budget principles, Portfolio Budget Statements and internal budgets, translating external funding measures into internal budget allocations, preparation of accurate accruals, forecasting and reporting, and, developing presentations to stakeholders and the Executive to ensure agency wide financial literacy. Coordinate and facilitate internal financial performance reporting obligations, preparation of budget submissions and briefings for parliament, responses to Estimates Memorandums and external requests for information. Provide strategic advice and guidance in financial performance management to support business operations and organisational objectives, including the implementation of policy and tools to support key internal stakeholders. Create and maintain a robust internal control environment around financial processes and systems to safeguard the resources of the National Archives and the integrity of its financial records. Building team capabilities by providing leadership to team members, including setting the strategic direction of work priorities, monitoring workflows and resources, developing, coaching, and mentoring staff, resolving conflict, and managing performance to build long‑term capability in the finance functions. Build and maintain effective, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrate and encourage innovation to deliver continuous business improvement in financial systems and processes. Provide support to the Chief Financial Officer as and when required. Assist with financial operations and reporting requirements as and when required by Assistant Director, Financial Operations and Reporting. Promote and apply the APS and National Archives values and contemporary people management principles and practices in diversity, workplace health and safety and participative management. CPA/CA qualified, or working towards, with tertiary qualifications in a related field is highly desirable. Recent experience in relevant roles in the Australian Public Service will be highly regarded. Significant experience in CBMS and TechnologyOne systems or similar, or the demonstrated ability to quickly gain expertise in these systems. Are you eligible?
