Your opportunity Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health is seeking a Bioscience Team Leader, Technical and Laboratory Services, to oversee a team supporting clinical and laboratory operations that underpin high-quality learning, teaching, and research in biosciences, including anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and biomedical and medical laboratory sciences. You’ll lead a talented technical team to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient laboratory operations - including oversight of OGTR PC2 facilities - and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation. What you will bring You’re an experienced and proactive technical leader who thrives in dynamic, science-based environments. You take pride in maintaining the highest standards of compliance, safety, and service delivery - and in developing your team to do the same. To succeed in this role, you will also need: A relevant tertiary (postgraduate) qualification and substantial experience in a clinical skills, laboratory, or higher education environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience Proven leadership and operational management skills, with the ability to coordinate teams and resources across complex technical environmentsDemonstrated knowledge and practical experience applying the Gene Technology Act, OGTR guidelines and relevant Australian Standards (e.g. AS/NZS 2243.3, AS 2252 series, AS 2845.3, AS/NZS 3500.1), including management and audit coordination of OGTR-certified PC2 laboratories and engagement with Institutional Biosafety Committees A strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety regulations applicable to laboratories and clinical environments, with a track record of ensuring compliance and promoting a safe workplace Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on collaboration, analytical and problem-solving, critical and reflective thinking and service excellence You’ll drive process improvement through data-informed decision-making, documentation, and innovation in laboratory management systems. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities. HEW Level 8. The base salary ranges from $120,756 - $133,154 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $155,790.
