On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will merge with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. Permanent Full Time (1.0 EFT) Managers and Administrative Workers Grade 5 Location: The Alfred About Us The Biomedical Engineering Department ensures that all biomedical equipment used for patient treatment in the Hospital network is functional, safe and conforms to Australian regulatory requirements. The Department also provides key Hospital personnel with advice on the optimum usage, purchasing and replacement of medical equipment. About The Role The Chief Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the management of all Biomedical Engineering services for Alfred Health, including medical device management, budgetary administration and ensuring the technical proficiency of Biomedical Engineering staff. This position manages the provision of service to The Alfred, Caulfield, Sandringham and Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, plus Alfred Health satellite services and any external organisations that have contracted their Biomedical Engineering servicing requirements to Alfred Health. The incumbent is an experienced engineer who demonstrates leadership, mature knowledge and sound judgement in all matters related to biomedical engineering. About You Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) or equivalent approved qualification or experience, eligible for membership of Engineers Australia. Minimum of six years direct experience in biomedical engineering and a demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff. Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical, administrative, medical, nursing and paramedical staff. Benefits Salary Packaging & Novated Leasing through Maxxia.
