We have a rewarding Geotechnical Engineer position awaiting you at our world class high-performing Underground Technical Services team at Northern Star Resources South Kalgoorlie Operations . This role operates on a residential 8/6 roster working 12-hour shifts. It is an exciting time to be part of the biggest growth story in Australian Underground Gold Mining, with experience to be gained that will be career-defining. Reporting to the Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer, the primary role is for the safe management and delivery of all Geotechnical requirements within the Geotechnical Engineering team. Here’s what awaits you: Be part of a growing operation with a strong mine life and exciting new developments on the horizon. Provide expert geotechnical advice for underground mining areas, ensuring safe and effective ground support systems. Initiate and deliver geotechnical improvement projects to enhance mine productivity and profitability. Continuously improve geotechnical processes for the Mining Department. Collaborate with technical teams to design mine levels and stope extraction plans, including rock stress modelling, closure monitoring and stability analysis. Utilise lidar technology to monitor ground conditions and develop effective ground support strategies. Oversee QA/QC for ground support installation, underground scaling, rehabilitation plans, and rock bolt testing. Maintain daily reporting and compliance tracking for geotechnical activities. Review and update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP). Support the development of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems. To thrive in this role, you’ll need: Experience: Underground geotechnical experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine. Experience with mine design software - Deswik. Experience with seismic monitoring systems - IMS Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable). Qualifications: Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent). Current "C" Class Western Australian Driver's Licence (Manual). St John's Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
